Terms of Service — DishPool
DRAFT — for attorney review before publication. Not legal advice. Items marked [USER ACTION] require completion before publication.
1. General and acceptance
DishPool is an online service for coordinating potluck (shared-meal) events: guests RSVP and choose which dishes to bring. Use of the service is subject to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. Using the service constitutes acceptance of these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility and sign-in
The service is intended for adults (18+). Sign-in is via a one-time code to your phone or a Google account. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method confidential and for any activity in your account.
3. What the service does and permissions
- Any registered user can join an event (via an event link/identifier), RSVP, and choose dishes.
- Creating and managing events is currently reserved for the operator and the managers they appoint. Management permissions are determined server-side and cannot be selected by a participant.
- Additional features, some of them paid, may be offered in the future. Any additional terms applying to them will be provided separately.
4. Acceptable use
In using the service you agree not to:
- provide false or misleading information (including about attendance, food, allergens, and logistics);
- upload unlawful, offensive, or infringing content, or content that violates another person's copyright or privacy;
- attempt to breach, overload, or disrupt the security of the service;
- use the service for an unauthorised commercial purpose or to harvest data about other users.
5. User content
- You retain ownership of the content you upload (dish names, notes, recipes, recipe photos).
- You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to display and process that content solely to operate the service.
- Note: uploading a recipe photo sends that image to a third-party provider (OpenAI) in the US for text extraction. Do not upload photos containing sensitive personal information you do not want processed in this way.
- Event managers may edit or remove content within their event to preserve safety, accuracy, and coordination.
6. Allergen declaration and food safety — important
Dietary and allergen tags in the service are a declaration by the participant who enters them, and are not a safety certification or guarantee. We do not check, verify, or certify their accuracy. If you have a food allergy or sensitivity, do not rely on the information in the service — confirm directly with the person who prepared the dish. Responsibility for food safety lies with whoever prepares and serves the food, not with the service.
7. Service availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, updates, and outages may occur. The service is provided “AS IS” and without an availability commitment (SLA) at this stage.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be waived under law. [LEGAL REVIEW RECOMMENDED: liability cap and wording adapted to Israeli law.]
9. Intellectual property
The service, its design, and its code are our property or that of our licensors. They may not be copied, reproduced, or used to create derivative works without permission, except for your own user content as described in section 5.
10. Termination
You may stop using the service and request account deletion at any time (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or the law.
11. Changes to the terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and the competent courts in Israel have exclusive jurisdiction. [LEGAL REVIEW RECOMMENDED: tailored jurisdiction/arbitration clause.]
13. Contact
